Old Dog Skateboards is a project that I started in Nov. 2014. I have been skating since 1988 and have always wanted to make my own boards. I came up with the concept to market boards to older skaters who were still "out in the streets".
Another part of this companies' identity was that it follow the following rules:
1. DIY: I wanted to do as much of the work myself as I could. This stretched from designing everything to sourcing the materials to overseeing the silk screening to doing the distribution.
2. Hand done: For this project, I wanted the aesthetic to look hand done. I drew the font and all of the art for the various boards. All the boards were hand painted, hand silk screened and then embellished.
3. "Artisanal" I sort of jokingly refer to this as an artisanal skate company. I try to do as much as possible locally. The boards are sourced from a company in Idaho. The art and production work are done by me and I use a local silkscreen craftsman.
